Middle School Clubs and Activities take place afterschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

High School Clubs and Activities

Most high school clubs and activities take place during "Riptime" from 11 am to 12 pm Tuesday through Friday.

Some do meet after school and can be viewed below.

Hello CCSMS parents and guardians, 

This week on Tuesday and Thursday afterschool we will start our clubs and activities. Mrs. Doctor will continue to oversee our after school activities in additional to our Afternoon Academy. Mrs. Carmichael is assisting our advisors with getting the clubs and activities started.  You can find out more information about the clubs below. 

If a scholar is not sure which clubs or activities they may be interested in joining or trying out for, staff will have a group that goes and explores the different options with them this week. Please indicate that on this form.

This form will be shared each week. This is how we will know your child is staying for a club or activity and how you plan to have them head home at 4:30 pm. 

If you need to make a change you can submit a new form. If you are making a change the day of the activity, please also email Mrs. Doctor. 

Scholars may bring a snack to eat prior to the activity as those are not provided

Robotics - Middle School and High School Middle school and high school teams will compete in the regional RECF competitions this year. Teams are forming in the coming weeks with coaches hosting skill build workshops. Interest in robotics, programming, or other skills needed Tuesdays Thursdays Some Saturdays in the future. Dance Team - Open to MS and HS The Riptide Rhythm is our dance team open to middle and high school scholars. They practice throughout the year and dance at school and local events and an end of the year showcase. Middle School BETA Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit educational youth organization in the United States that recognizes academic achievement and community service. Core values of the Beta Club and its members are achievement, character, leadership, and service. Scholars will be invited to join based on their academic and behavioral performance. Middle School HOSA As a student member of HOSA, you will gain insight into the health professions, improve your teamwork abilities, and cultivate your leadership skills. HOSA is genuinely student-led, which means you will have the opportunity to elect student officers for your chapter, organize meetings, and collaborate with your officer team on important decisions. All HOSA members will also work to compete at the state level for events related healthcare. Interest in healthcare careers and bio-medical sciences Tuesdays     139
National Art Honor Society This is a national honor chapter for talented artists in grades 7-12. The National Art Honor Society (9-12) & Junior Art Honor Society (7-8) will have a combined chapter meeting after school each week throughout the school year to focus on art competitions (local, state, national, and international) and leadership skills. This group will also serve at school events, such as the fall festival. The high school NAHS members will also be provided a studio hour during RIPtime each week (Semester 2) for extra time on art competitions. New NAHS & JAHS members who meet all chapter standards and commitments will earn the opportunity to participate in the official induction ceremony. Official invitations to join this group of talented artists will be distributed to scholars who have demonstrated artistic talent and leadership in a previous art class at CCSMS.

For interested scholars who have yet to take an art course on our campus, and those who have taken art but have not received an official invitation, be sure to pick up an NAHS/JAHS Application from Mr. Pope. Note: This application will require teacher recommendations, plus an art portfolio review and a personal commitment statement, to show evidence of artistic talent and leadership skills. Crafting Guild Weekly make and take activities geared for middle school scholars. Interest in crafting and seeing the how arts become STEM related when we craft.   Thursdays starting  September 24th!   204
Middle School Rotary Interact Rotary Interact Club brings together middle school scholars to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Find out how serious leadership can be seriously fun. Interested scholars should attend Thursday and we will review the requirements and process to be an active member!   Thursdays   129B

Bridge Run Club Bridge Run- Run Club! Run with us to prep for the Bridge Run in the Spring. Must have physical on file with Ms. Lambos to participate.   Thursdays   117
Mock Trial for High School The Mock Trial program serves to provide students with an opportunity to practice and refine their debate and acting skills, along with allowing them to learn about courtroom procedure, decorum, and rules of law. The goal of Mock Trial is to educate students about the basis of our American judicial system and the mechanics of litigation. Interest in the judicial system. And commitment to the sessions afterschool. This is also great for individuals interested in drama and acting. Starting soon. Starting soon.    

Getting home after the After school Activity Participation

Please make sure your scholar knows how they are getting home after their activities:

Afterschool Activity Buses

  • The afterschool activity buses will leave campus around 4:30, but this is dependent on the traffic in the greater Charleston area.
  • The CCSMS Clubs and Activities Coordinator or their designee will wait with the scholars until the buses leave.
  • The buses go to central, but limited spots in West Ashley and North Charleston. 

Car Riders Afterschool

  • All scholars who are car riders must be picked up in the car rider loop of the back parking lot for safety.
  • Please do not tell your scholars to wait for you on King Street or in the Food Lion parking lot.
  • Any scholars not picked up by 4:30pm will be placed in Afternoon Academy. Any time longer than 15 minutes will be charged for the day in Afternoon Academy.

Walkers, Bike Riders, Drivers, and CARTA riders

  • Please indicate on the form if your child is to be released after their activity to walk, ride, or drive home on their own. Otherwise we will hold them for parent/guardian pick up.
