SCREADY Testing

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The South Carolina College and Career-Ready Assessment (SC READY) program is a statewide assessment in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics for students in grades 3-8 and science for students in grades 4 and 6. All students in grades 3-8 will participate in a stand-alone Text-Dependent Writing (TDW) ELA field test in addition to the operational ELA assessments.

SC READY, which are untimed tests, will be administered in person in an online format. Items on SC READY will include multiple choice, short answer, evidence-based selected response, and text-dependent analysis. Evidence-based selected responses will require students to read a piece of text or a passage and choose the best answer from answer choices. The text-dependent analysis will require students to read a piece of text or a passage and draw upon that text for their extended written responses. SC READY tests are aligned to state standards and what is taught in your child’s classroom. An online video tutorial for the online administration of SC READY  can be accessed via the following link: https://wbte.drcedirect.com/SC/portals/sc/.

SC READY must be taken in-person even if students are enrolled in full-time virtual/online learning instruction.

In accordance with SC test security law and State Board Regulations, students are prohibited from having any electronic device in their possession during testing. This includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, smart watches, wireless earbuds, and electronic translation devices. All electronic devices will be collected prior to testing by the test administrator for return to the student at the end of testing. Noncompliance with this requirement will result in discipline consequences. This restriction does not apply to electronic medical devices that are documented for use in a student’s IEP, 504 Plan, or Individual Health Plan, such as those devices needed for monitoring diabetes as an example.

Please contact Ms. Hope Carter, Assistant Principal, at hcarter@charlestonmathscience.org with any questions or concerns related to your child’s testing administration schedule.
